Mission Statement
Star Equestrians promotes personal growth and optimal health in all areas of life. This encompasses the physical, mental, emotional, behavioral and spiritual facets of a person. Star's operational focus is on providing a therapeutic program in which horses are utilized as the main modality. Our therapeutic farm environment enables people to realize personal growth through motivation, purpose and compassion.
History
Cindy Goril founded Star Equestrians June of 1998 as a center for physical, emotional,and spiritual healing. Star's programs are founded on the healing properties of equestrian activities, as recognized by therapeutic professionals. Leveraging Ms. Goril's capabilities as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and as a NARHA Certified Therapeutic riding Instructor, Star has designed and implemented a variety of cutting edge therapeutic programs since its inception.
Establishing its legal ability to efficiently and effectively act in the public behalf, Star was incorporated as a Pennsylvania not-for-profit in 2004 and attained federal recognition as a charitable organization under CFR501(c)(3) in 2008.
Star Equestrians initially began adaptive equestrian programming to assist children and adults with an array of disorders. It has grown through the years to become Pennsylvania's only NARHA Horses for Heroes program, working with area veterans affected by severe combat injuries such as Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), spinal injuries, loss of limb and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Star has also grown and developed into an environmentally enriched program that provides the benefits of therapeutic gardening.
